The Great Potter is Working on Us

God told Jeremiah to go to the potter's house, so He could show Jeremiah a lesson for the people and the country of Judah. In the same way that the potter worked his clay, God is always working on us. (Jeremiah 18:5-8) God is able to pull up any people or country and get rid of them, if that is what He decides to do because of their sins. However, if they repent of their wickedness, God will think twice and start over with them, as the potter starting over on a lump of clay that is imperfect. What is God calling us to do, so we do not have to be smashed in His hands and have Him start over on us or on our country? Let's think about this question a few minutes.

God loves each person in the world. He desires to have a close personal relationship with each of us. Therefore, He is constantly working on us to make us into what He designed us to be. However, we have to cooperate with Him, in order for this transformation to take place. If we do not listen to God, and if we go our own way, He has to punish us to get our attention. Then, if we do not repent, He can severely injure us in any way He sees fit, so we know we need to repent. If we do repent at any point, He will think twice about further punishment, and He will start over on us to make us like Jesus. I pray we will not have to be smashed and redone by the Great Potter. I pray we will be quick to confess sins and repent of them, so God can make something beautiful out of each of us.
