Righteous Leaders

The Sons of Korah wrote Psalm 45 as a wedding psalm for the king. This psalm gives us insight into what God wants to see in our leaders and what He blesses. Of course, we are told in the Bible that God ordains all of the governing authorities, since He is the Ruler of the universe. He expects them to use their power to enforce right living. God blesses those who love right and hate wrong. That is why God chooses many of the leaders in the first place and gives them His anointing. (Psalm 45:6,7) I believe the principles of this psalm are very appropriate for us today, as we see so much turmoil around us.

We need godly leaders in our countries, in our churches, and in our families. If the leaders do not stand up for what is right and make just laws, the people will not have an accurate view of how to live. God is holy. That means He loves what is right and hates what is wrong. We should all be holy, as we trust the Lord and follow Him. However, the human heart is wicked, and without God's power and the direction of our leaders, most people will not achieve that standard. When God needs a leader for His people, He chooses such a person, and He anoints the leader with the power of His Spirit. He exalts the leader above those around him, so others will look up to him and follow his leadership. I pray we will all pray for this type of godly leaders, so we can see our country turned around by the truth of God being applied to our lives every day.
