They Sought God and He Showed Up

It is easy for us to drift away from God. At other times, we simply leave Him and go our own way. Whatever path we take to get away from God, the way back is always the same. We must consecrate ourselves to Him and promise to do His will in His way. That is what Judah did under King Asa, after they had turned away from God under King Rehoboam. Asa pointed them to God by tearing down the pagan worship places. Then, the people joyfully from the heart made the promise to follow God. They sought God, and He showed up. God blessed them with peace within and without. (II Chronicles 15:15) I wonder how many of us need that pervasive peace right now?

If we are lacking in peace, we know we have turned away from God in some way. God is the God of peace. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. The Holy Spirit gives us the fruit of peace in our lives when we are allowing Him to fill us and to work in us. When we sense the absence of peace, we should joyfully return to God, anticipating the best. Why is that? God always responds to hearts that truly seek Him. He is always ready to be found. After all, He did not move away from us, we left Him. Therefore, as believers, we should be ready to renew our promise to God to follow His will in His way, even if we need to do it every day. God would love that, and He will show up to give us peace within our heart and peace with other people, as much as it depends on us. I pray that we will grasp this truth, so we know that God is ready to hear from us, no matter what we have done, and He is ready to make our lives what they could have been all along.
