Being a Very Godly Leader

Josiah was a king of Judah who started his reign as a child. He became a very godly king once the book of the Law of Moses was found in the Temple. In fact, God proclaimed for all people that Josiah was the greatest king ever. He said that the world would never again see a king like Josiah, who was totally and repentantly obedient to God, heart, mind, and strength, following all of the instructions Moses gave in the revelation of God. (II Kings 23:25) That is an amazing commendation, since there were many godly kings before and after Josiah. We need to examine what God said, so we can be godly leaders, too.

None of us are perfect. We have all sinned, and we will fall into sin, even if we do not do it willfully or defiantly. A godly leader is one who will totally repent of any sins the holy Spirit points out. This will be a godly repentance that leads to obedience. It is not just feeling sorry for our sins. (II Corinthians 7:9,10) When we are godly leaders, we will be obedient with all of our heart, mind, and strength.  We will be obedient out of our love for the Lord, not out of duty. We will obey as completely as our mind can conceive of being obedient. Finally, we will obey by doing all we can do to obey with all of our strength and ability. When we do all of these things to follow all that God has revealed in His Word, then, we are truly godly leaders, worthy of God's commendation. I pray that is what we will all strive to do.
