Having a Heart for Jesus

Our heart is not just the seat of our emotions, but in Jesus' day the people realized the heart was also the seat of where we make our decisions. Most of the time, our decisions are a combination of our understanding and our emotions. Therefore, it is very important to keep our heart focused on the right thing, but how do we do that in practical, everyday life? That is a question that Jesus answered for us. (Luke 12:34) Let's take the wisdom of the Lord and apply it to ourselves. Then, we will know how to have a heart for Jesus all of the time.

Let me ask you a question. What do you treasure? What is the most valuable thing to you? Jesus told us that where our treasure is, our heart will be also. Therefore, we have to decide to treasure Jesus more than anything else in the world, if we want to have a heart for Jesus as we should. After all, isn't He more important than money or power? He has died for us to give us eternal salvation. If He is our Lord and Savior, we owe Him our very life. We should treasure His love in coming to us. His righteousness in living a sinless life. His commitment in taking our punishment on the cross to pay for our sins. Let's face it, without Jesus we are nothing, and we can do nothing, so that is why we should treasure Him as the most valuable thing we have. If we will do that each day, we will have our heart on Him and live for Him.
