Finding the Way of Life

I am afraid that a lot of people do not know the way of life, as God designed it to be. They think that they can live any way they desire and have a great life. Then, they try it their way, and things do not go well. They wonder why, and sometimes, they even blame God for their failure. I pray that has never happened to you, but if it has, I want to show you how to find the way of life. It is the way that God showed Solomon. (Proverbs 6:23) However, I have seen the benefits of this way in my own life.

A command is a lamp for us. When God gives us a command, it is to light up the things in our life and the things around us, so we can see everything correctly. The same is true for teaching. It is a light to lead us in the right way. However, we all fail in many ways, so we all need the lamp and the light to show us our sins, and then, we need corrective discipline to ensure we stay on the way of life. I hope we can all see that progression.

The problem is that most people do not like commands. They want to have the flexibility to go their own way. They do not like teaching, either. It is boring, and there are a lot more exciting things to do. Also, they reject the corrective discipline. They do not want to be corrected, and they do not accept anything that has to do with discipline. Therefore, they miss the way of life. Many miss the fact that we must repent of our sins, trust Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and confess Him as Lord of our life. That causes them to miss the way to life itself. They can't find the way of life without knowing Jesus first. However, even the believers can miss the way of life, because they fail to obey the commands, follow the teaching, and conform to the corrective discipline of God.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Proverbs 7-9.
