A Time of Favor

I think we all go through seasons when it seems we are having problems from all angles. We do not see God answering our prayers as we thought He would. People are giving us a hard time at every turn. It seems we can't get a break when we have to file our taxes or when we go to the doctor's office. It is just one trial after another. King David went through those times, and he was inspired to write about them in some of his psalms. I believe his request from the Lord during one of those times was right on. (Psalm 69:13) Let's see what David said to God.

David asked the Lord for a time of favor. Favor is when someone looks on us with compassion, and  cares for us in our frustrations. We should grant our favor to others, and we should desire the favor of God, other people, and our authorities. It is not that we think everything will go well all of the time. This request is that when we deal with God, other people, and even government officials that they treat us more than fairly. We see this in the Bible when God healed Naaman from leprosy. He was a pagan asking for healing. God did not have any obligation to Him as His child, but he showed him favor. Paul received favor from the authorities in Rome when he appealed to Caesar. He had a guard, but others could come and minister to him freely. I could go on and on. However, the point is, we all need to have a time of favor at some times more than others. I believe it should be our prayer to God for us and for others around us in those times. #nhbaptistdotorg

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 70-72.
