Outer Decay, But Inner Renewal
Getting older is not for sissies! I have said that many times. It is hard when our body begins to break down. The pain can be huge hindrance. It is difficult when our brain knows what to do, but our body just can't do what we used to be able to do. It is humbling, and it seems overwhelming at times. However, there is a bright side for those who know the Lord. Our inner person is being renewed every day. (II Corinthians 4:16) Our spirit and soul are getting stronger every day, as our body decays, if we are growing in the Lord as we should.
God has a way of getting us ready for heaven. When we are young, we think we will live forever on this earth. However, when the decay of our outer person sets in and gets worse, we begin to think about heaven more and more. This is even more the case as we learn the Word, and grow stronger in the Holy Spirit. The inner person is renewed daily, so that we have more peace, love, and joy than ever, even as we experience the physical pains. That is a great blessing from the Lord for all believers as we get closer to being with Him. I pray that all of us will know the reality of His inner renewal.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Corinthians 5-7.
