Crucified with Christ
Paul gave us a very clear statement about what happens when we come to know Christ. He gave it as a personal testimony, but it is true of every believer. (Galatians 2:20) Many people do not know this reality, even if they are believers. However, it is vital for us to understand it, if we are going to live the victorious Christian life.
Every believer is crucified with Christ at the moment of salvation. (Romans 6:6) The old person we were before trusting Christ is put to death, as Jesus was put to death by crucifixion. However, we are still alive after the new birth, because we are a new creation, a new person. (II Corinthians 5:17) Christ lives in us, and He is our life. He is eternal, so we have eternal life. The life we live after salvation is a life of faith in Christ Jesus who gave Himself for us out of His great love for us. Yes, we still live in the body of flesh, but our life comes from Him, so we do not listen to the flesh, but we trust Christ to gives us the victory in life. That is why we have the ability to live for the Lord and overcome the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Galatians 4-6 and Ephesians 1.
