The Silver and Gold are God's
God created everything. He owns everything. All of the silver and gold belongs to Him.(Haggai 2:8) He can give it to whomever He wishes, and He can take it away from us after He has given it to us. If we have not learned this yet, it is time to consider this important truth.
We are stewards or managers of the money God entrusts to us. We are to use it as He would use it, as He directs us to use it. We are not to waste it by spending it on ourselves or on things that do not honor the Lord. The people of Haggai's day learned this the hard way. They built their own houses, and made them very nice, while they neglected the House of God and His work. This made God angry, and He sent a terrible famine on the land to show them their error. Then, He blew on the money they brought home, so that it was gone. Has that ever happened to you? If so, now you know the reason. Let's decide to honor God with all of our possessions since they all belong to Him. Then, we can see Him bless it, instead of blowing it away.
