God's Unchanging Love

We should all be very glad that God is love. In fact, the very nature of God being love is what saves us from so much punishment and judgment. I don't know if you have thought about this, but Micah told us about it. (Micah 7:18) I believe it will do us all good to remember what He told God's people in his day.

God is unique among all of the gods of this world. He stands out because of His love. Micah even marvels saying, "Who is a God like You?" The answer is that there is not another God like our God. He pardons iniquity, and when God pardons us, He puts those sins as far away as the east is from the west. He passes over the rebellious act of His remnant. In other words, He does not punish His children for every rebellious act all of the time, because of His great love. Also, He does not retain His anger forever. Yes, God gets angry, but He never sins. He never lets it turn into bitterness or resentment, like people do. He relents of His anger, because He delights in His unchanging love. If He stayed angry, it might change His love, but He won't let that happen, since He delights in that unchanging nature of His love. He is truly an amazing God, and there is no other god that comes close.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Nahum 1-3.
