I Am The Lord

God wants everyone in the world to know that He is the Lord. He is not egotistical. He is simply the Sovereign King over all of His creation, so He deserves all of our praise and our trust. Therefore, if we do not know He is the Lord, we can't give Him what He is due. Therefore, God works wonders and shows Himself to all people. In Ezekiel's day He raised up Babylon to punish Judah for their great sinfulness. Then, He restored Israel, which was a great miracle. He did all of this to prove He is the Lord.

There is nothing the Lord cannot do. He showed Ezekiel a prophecy in a parable about eagles plucking twigs from tall trees and planting them, so they could grow and flourish. The trees represented nations. God revealed that He could bring down the high tree and exalt the low tree. He could make the dry tree flourish and cause the green tree to dry up. He is the King, so all are under His control.

The same is true today. The USA and other countries would do well to consider the point of this verse. It doesn't matter how high we are now, we can be brought low. The lowly nations can be exalted at any time. The prosperous nations can dry up, while the poor nations can be made to flourish. It is all in God's hands, and He performs these things to show everyone that He is the Lord.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 18-21.
