God's Righteousness and Kindness

Many people are angry with God because He did not answer their prayers just like they asked. They are convinced that God makes mistakes, because of children with health problems or the death or a loved one. They blame God for their lack of money or relationship problems. The list goes on and on. David had as much reason as anyone ever had to blame God, and he expressed his struggles with God in many of his psalms. However, David always had the proper understanding of God's ways and deeds. He knew that the Lord was righteous in all His ways and kind in all His deeds, even when he could not understand why God was doing what He was doing. (Psalm 145:17,18) This is very important when it comes to how we cry out to God in our hard times and misunderstandings.

God never sins. He always does the right thing in a kind way. That is not to say that He does not do things that cause pain or loss, because He does. However, He always has our best interest at heart. His grace is always able to overcome the consequences of our suffering, if we will call out to Him in total dependence. This is true when we call upon Him in truth. We can't just be upset with Him and complaining about His ways or deeds. We have to truly go to Him as our Provider and the Source of all that sustains us in life. Then, He will draw near to us. He may still say no to our prayer, the sickness may not get better, or the relationship may be broken. The key is to continue to trust Him, and He will walk with us through our trials to get us to the other side healthy and whole.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 146-148.
