The Mindset of a Fool

There are many foolish people in the world, and there are many fools. David showed us one of the main characteristics of a fool. A fool is a person who says in his heart that there is no God. (Psalm 53:1) This is a denial of an obvious reality. There is not another plausible explanation for the existence of the universe.Only an All-Wise, All-Powerful God could have created something out of nothing and made it all work together. The same could be said for our nature as humans. There is no explanation for our emotions and our ability to trust God and others. Those can only be gifts from God who made us in His image. However, the fool is set in his belief. Why? I think this verse gives us a good insight.

Fools are people who are corrupt, and they commit abominable injustices. They rationalize that they are doing something that is proper, because they do it for their own benefit. If they believed in a Sovereign God who is just in all things and punishes injustice, they could not get away with doing those things and live with themselves. Therefore, they reject the notion of God to permit their sin. None of us can do good on our own. It is only with God's help that we can be righteous and act righteously. However, a fool really does not do good. They have convinced themselves that they can do wrong and get away with it, because there is no God. One day they will be very surprised to see Him, if they do not listen to the truth and turn to Him before it is too late.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 55-57.
