Unhindered

The book of Acts is about the spread of the gospel across the inhabited world during the first generation of people after Jesus died and rose again to deliver all people from sin. It was a remarkable miracle of God using men like Paul. The book gives us the true accounts of so many interesting events and a look into the strategy used by the believers. Then, the book ends with one word that is very meaningful and profound, "unhindered." (Acts 28:30,31) Why did God make it a point to end on this word, saying that no one was forbidding Paul to share the gospel? I believe it is a message for all of us today.

No one and no forces on earth or in the heavenly realm can stop the spread of the gospel message. The only thing that hinders the spread of the gospel is our disobedience. God worked it out for Paul to move all over the world preaching the gospel and starting churches, until he finally came to Rome the leading city in the world at that time. Then, he stayed in a house for 2 years sharing with all who would come to him, while awaiting his trial by Caesar in house arrest. However, even though Paul was in custody God made sure the gospel was unhindered. Today, the gospel is spreading across China, Russia, and countries like Iran, even though these governments try to hinder it. In the USA we still have the freedom to spread the gospel in an unhindered way, but are we? I pray that we will not be the ones to hinder the spread of the Good News by our fear and disobedience. It is the only way to eternal life, and there are so many who need to hear.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Romans 1-3.
