Sin Shall Not Have Dominion Over You

Many believers have a misconception about sin that causes them serious problems. They believe they are bound to sin, and there is nothing they can do about it. Therefore, they give up on trying to obey the Bible, which commands us to be holy. Instead, we need to listen to Paul. He set the record straight, when the Holy Spirit inspired him to write the truth about sin in Romans 6.(Romans 6:12,14) We all need to take this message to heart.

We are commanded not to let sin reign in our mortal bodies. God does not command us to do something that we can't do with His help. Therefore, we see that sin does not have power to reign in our lives. We have the ability not to obey our lusts or strong desires to do the wrong things. We need to be assured that since we are under grace and not under the law, sin shall not have dominion over us. That means, we can choose not to sin, and no one or nothing in this world can overturn that choice. Now, can you see what the Bible says about sin?

Every morning when we wake up for our unhurried time with the Lord, we should pray for God's guidance and power to do His will for our lives. We should draw near to God, so Satan will flee, and we should walk through the day listening to the Spirit and obeying Him, knowing we do not have to sin, but we can do what the Spirit says in His power and overcome sin's temptation and destruction. We will never be totally sinless, because we fail, at times, but we can get more and more like Jesus, which is being holy before God.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Romans 7-10.
