A Life Blessed By God
King David is a great example of a person who was greatly blessed by God. He was not perfect by any means, but he had a heart for God, and he had put His trust in God as the Lord of all. As David talked with God about the temple and the covenant God made with his family, God showed him the blessings he had placed upon his life. (I Chronicles 17:8) I pray that we all might be so blessed by God.
God had blessed David by going with him everywhere he had gone in his life. God never forsook him or left him alone, even when he had sinned. Yes, David still had to confess his sins and repent of them to be restored fully in his relationship with God, but God never left him hopeless. (Psalm 51) All of us can know this reality if we know Christ as our Lord and Savior. (Romans 8:31-39)
God had cut off his enemies from before him. David had many enemies, because he was leading God's people, and many countries wished to harm them. Also, King Saul was determined to kill David and keep him from becoming king. However, none of his enemies prevailed against him. David lived in victory. As believers, the same can be true of us. (Romans 8:37)
Finally, God made David a name like the great men of the earth. He gave David a good reputation. He brought honor to his name, since David was a man after God's own heart. Now, we will never be kings and queens, but all believers bear the name of Christ. What a name! Also, we are part of God's chosen people, royal priesthood, and holy nation. (I Peter 2:9) There is no higher honor or greater name than that!
Tomorrow, I intend to read I Chronicles 19-21.
