Like a Stubborn Calf
Just about anyone who owns a calf wants the calf to grow to maturity. They will make sure the calf is fed and protected. However, a stubborn calf is a lot of trouble. He or she will run away and even refuse to eat the good food given by their owner. God said that Israel was like a stubborn calf.(Hosea 4:16) We need to make sure we are not stubborn calves, because the consequences are not pleasant at all.
When God has a stubborn calf of a child, He just lets them forage in the open country like a lamb. In other words, He turns us out of His pasture and His protection, so that we have to hunt for the little food and water we can find for ourselves. If we had not been stubborn, the Lord would have led us in green pastures and by still waters.(Psalm 23) He would protect us from enemies, and bless us with His goodness and mercy all of our days. What a difference being stubborn makes in our lives! Please, learn to submit to God, so His abundant care can fill your life with good things.
