Filled and Forgetful

There is a great paradox about our relationship with God. The more He fills us with good things and blesses us, the easier it is to forget Him. In other words, a filled believer tends to be a forgetful believer. (Hosea 13:6) Hosea observed this, and we need to be on guard for it today.

We live in an affluent country, so we have the opportunity to achieve success. God has blessed America, so that we have all types of natural resources and food supplies. We have all kinds of entertainment, and every good thing at our disposal. It seems  that would make us want to stay even closer to God, but it doesn't always do that. Our hearts get exalted with pride in what we have done and in what we have, so that we think about ourselves and our stuff, instead of God. Therefore, we forget God, who is the one who blessed us and filled us.

Please, don't let that happen to you. If it does, then God has to send lean times and suffering to get you to remember Him and call out to Him in faith once again, just like He did to Israel. He does not want to do that, but He can't let us forget Him.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Hosea 14 and Joel 1-3.
