A Glimpse of Heaven

Ezekiel saw many visions, and those visions show us many important realities. Some of his visions reveal what things will be like in the 1,000 year reign of Christ on the earth, called the Millennium. This is especially true when we read chapter 47. It is there we read about a river proceeding from the temple toward the east all the way to the Mediterranean Sea. It is in the description of this river, which will exist during the Millennium, that we get a glimpse of heaven. Isn't God good?

Ezekiel saw that the river got deeper and deeper as it flowed to the sea, and he saw trees on both sides of the river that bore fruit good for food. The unusual thing about these trees is that their leaves will not wither, and they will bear fruit every month. Also, the leaves of the trees will be used for medicine during the 1,000 years.

What does that remind you of? Look at Revelation 22 and the description of heaven. John saw a pure river of the water of life coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle and on either side is the tree of life which will bear 12 kinds of fruit, so it is like 12 trees, and they bear fruit every month. Also, John notes that the leaves are for the healing of the nations. Isn't the similarity amazing? That means the Millennium will give everyone there a glimpse of heaven. I think it was to encourage them all to trust the Lord Jesus as their Lord and Savior as they come to Jerusalem to worship. However, we know at the end of the Millennium, most of the people decide to follow Satan, even though they have had a glimpse of heaven. (Revelation 20:7-10)

Unfortunately, even when God gives people a glimpse of heaven, many do not surrender to Him, because of their pride and hard hearts that want to go their own way. I beg you to listen and watch for the Lord to speak to you and show you glimpses of heaven. Please, give in to Him, repenting of your sins and trusting Christ, so you will not miss heaven.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 48 and Daniel 1-2.
