Hypocrites in Heart
One of the worst things we can be is a hypocrite. God looks at our hearts, not just at out words or actions. Therefore, when our words or actions do not match what is in our hearts. He knows that. That is being a hypocrite. It is being one thing on the inside and another thing on the outside. That is how the people were who approached Jeremiah after the fall of Jerusalem and the death of Gedaliah. (Jeremiah 42:20) They told him one thing while intending to do another thing all along.
Jesus had disdain for hypocrites like the Pharisee's and Sadducee's when He was on earth, and He still feels the same way today. We must not fool ourselves into thinking we can say something to fool God, when we really think or feel differently. When we find that happening, we must repent of the sin of hypocrisy and change our hearts and minds to match the Lord's will, instead of our own will. That is the only way to live a life pleasing to God. He can never bless hypocrisy.
