The Lord, The Judge

We need to always keep in mind that the Lord is the Judge of all we do. We will have conflicts between us and other people which cannot be resolved fully, but we do what is right, knowing we will be judged by God for all we do and how we do it. Jephthah showed that he knew this lesson, as Israel was accused of doing wrong by the Ammonites.(Judges 11:27) We need to learn this lesson well.

As believers, we are to seek to resolve every conflict we have with others. Jesus made it clear that we are to go to the other person, not even waiting for them to come to us.(Matthew 5:23-25) This is true because He wants us to be right with Him and with others, so we can live in righteousness all the time. However, at times we will be falsely accused like Jephthah, and we will try to resolve the differences, but the resolution will fail for some reason, even though we have not done wrong. When that happens, we trust the Lord, as our Judge, as The Judge, to do the right thing. Since God sees all and knows all, He is the only One who can make perfect judgment. He sees our hearts, and He knows the motives, too. Therefore, we can rest in knowing we can depend on His goodness.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Judges 14-16.
