Our Eternal Possession

As Christians, we have an eternal possession. No, I am not talking about eternal life. Yes, we have that, but I am referring to something we possess as we are enjoying eternal life. We possess the kingdom of God.(Daniel 7:17,18) What does that mean? Let's explore that a little.

The Kingdom of God is where God reigns. He is the ruler. However, we become citizens of the kingdom when we are saved from our sins. Our citizenship is not really here, but in heaven. We live looking forward to the time when we will be with the Lord in His kingdom forever. We possess the kingdom, because we will live there, and no one can take it away from us. We possess the kingdom, because we will do the work of reigning with the Lord forever in the kingdom. Remember how the Lord gave Adam the Garden of Eden, and He told Him and Eve to take care of it, and to be over it. He was still their boss, but they were to rule over the garden for Him. I believe it will be much the same way in the kingdom of God forever.

Some people wonder what we will be doing with our eternal life, well that is it. We will be possessing the kingdom forever and ever. What a privilege and a great responsibility for the saints of God. We need to grow in our trust of the Lord here, so we can reign with Him in a worthy manner forever.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Daniel 9-12.
