Need Better Wisdom and Understanding?
Daniel is a wonderful book of the Bible filled with truths that help us in so many ways. The stories of Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah are very inspirational to say the least. They were taken to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar to be trained to serve in His court. Since they did not compromise their convictions and belief in God, the Lord blessed them with ten times better wisdom and understanding than any of the other magicians and astrologers in the whole realm of the king.(Daniel 1:17,20) This provides us with an excellent lesson for us today.
God is the Author of all truth, and He is the Source of all wisdom, so when we get our understanding and wisdom from Him, we will have better wisdom and understanding than those who try to gain it from human sources. This means better in quality, because we receive it from the True Creator of all wisdom, so He has perfect understanding of all things. Others can discern some truth, because all real truth is God's truth, but without His blessing, they will not excel in it like those who please Him. As believers, we have nothing of which to be ashamed when it comes to wisdom and understanding. The intellectuals of this world will try to attack God's wisdom and destroy the understanding He has given us in His Word, but they will never succeed. Their wisdom and understanding is inferior to the Lord's, and it is full of holes and half-truths. We must rely on the Lord and stand up for Him, His wisdom and His understanding as the four young Hebrew men did, and we will see God work miracles for us, too.
