God Leads and Protects

The Psalms have a great way of painting word pictures that help us in our relationship with God. In Psalm 16:8 David shows us how to follow God's leadership and live in His protection. The key is to set the Lord before us, and to have Him by our right hand. Think about it with me.

If we set the Lord before us each day, we are ready to follow Him. We set Him before us, so we can watch to see where He goes, and then, we can go with Him. He is before us, because He is the Lord. He is leading and He is in charge.  We can never go wrong by setting the Lord before us every day.

He is not only before us, but He is just to our right hand side, too. The right hand is the source of strength. Therefore, for the Lord to be at our right hand means that He is our strength and our protector. We do not fight with our human power, but we let Him fight for us.

Isn't that a great word picture of how we should live every day? Let's start the day by putting the Lord ahead of us, so we can follow Him well, and let's have Him at our right hand to protect us from any attacks. Surely, we will not be moved, if we will live like that.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 18-20.
