Be Careful What You Ask God For

Job suffered greatly for no reason except to prove to Satan that he would be faithful to the Lord, no matter what happened. His life is a testament to true faith for everyone to consider. However, he still had trouble understanding what was going on and why God allowed it to happen. He wanted to talk with God about his suffering and plead his case to the Lord. I don't know what he was expecting his appearance before God to be like, but he finally got his chance.(Job 38:1-3) God started the conversation, but He told Job that he could respond to His questioning. Then, God proceeded to show Job just a little of His wisdom and power.  I am sure Job was overwhelmed by the Lord's questions and the thought of having to answer. We would have been the same way.

We are like Job whenever we think that we would like to approach God to explain something to Him or ask Him about why something is happening to us. We do not realize His great love and His great justice. He never does the wrong thing. He always does the loving thing, even if we do not understand. I hope all of us will read these final chapters of Job, so that we will learn to be careful what we ask God for. If we want to question Him, He might just let us, but when it comes down to it, we will have nothing to say. Let's just love Him and trust Him, instead of wanting to question Him.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 39-42.
