Peace in the Land
One of God's promises to the Hebrew people for being faithful to Him was that He would give peace in the land.(Leviticus 26:6) True peace is from God. It is not just the absence of conflict, but that is part of His peace. Peace is powerful. It is tangible. It is the absence of fear, because we know God is with us and protecting us. God wants all of us to have peace. He wants the USA to have peace in the land, but it is only given when we are faithful to Him.
Unfortunately, America has gone after idols, we have rejected God's laws, and now, we are seeing what it is like to live without peace in our land. Violence abounds. All kinds of people lie down afraid every night. God is not protecting us, as He did in the past. There has been a fundamental change in our country and part of it comes because there is no peace in the land.
As individuals, we can have peace in our own hearts, even when we lack God's peace in the land. However, we should all do our part to pray and to turn America back to the ways of the Lord, so we can once again enjoy His peace in the our land, like the Hebrews enjoyed when they obeyed Him.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Numbers 2-4.
