The Greatness of God

Why worship anyone or anything except the One True God? The amazing events of Daniel's time in the Babylonian exile of Judah declare the greatness of God for everyone to see. Yes, He can deliver His children from a fiery furnace, so that they come out without being burned or even having the smell of smoke on them. He can depose a great earthly king and cause him to eat grass and live like a beast of the field for seven years to prove His greatness. In fact, God can and does put the handwriting on the wall for those who rebel against Him, so that they know His greatness beyond any doubt. In the midst of all of this Daniel sums up God's greatness in Daniel 4:35. Think about it with me.

Compared to God "all of the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing." Who is the most powerful person on earth? He is nothing compared to God. What is the wealth of the top 400 people in the USA? It is nothing compared to God's wealth. What is the wisdom of the wisest people on earth? They do not know anything compared to God.

God does His will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand from doing His will. No one can stop Him from doing anything He desires. In fact, they don't even have a standing to question His actions. He is above reproach.

Now, answer the question again. Why worship anyone or anything except the One True God?

Tomorrow, I intend to read Daniel 6-8.
