Job's Realization

I have heard some wise people say that every experience we have in which we truly encounter God shows us something more about His character. That is why we see new names given to God on those occasions. Job had such a realization because of his great time of testing. He came to see that God can do everything.(Job 42:2) Think about it. He did not say God could do anything. He said "everything." I think this is very significant.

Most people are overwhelmed by life, especially when things are difficult. We say we need more hours in a day. We need more money to make ends meet. We need more knowledge of important things, so we can be more effective. We tend to transfer this inadequacy over to God, whether we realize it or not. We do not see how God can do everything He has to do for all seven billion people of the world and for His universe. Therefore, we try to help Him out. Like Job, we want to reason with Him and explain things to Him. However, after God spoke directly to Job and questioned him, Job stopped thinking that way. He knew beyond a doubt that God can do everything, and that no purpose can be withheld from Him. He is Lord and Master of everything.

We all need to know this. We are having trials like Job, and God is trying to show us this truth. When we get it, we will simply trust the Lord of all for everything and stop worrying. We will stop trying to inform Him and lay our cares on Him. Job was restored by God in the end of his life. He lived 140 more years in God's blessings. Think of how much better his life was because he realized God can do everything. Think of how much better our lives would be if we lived each day in that truth.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 3-5.
