Missing God's Call
Could it be that God is calling us to Himself, but we are missing His call? That is what happened during Isaiah's time, and I believe it is the case today, as well.(Isaiah 22:12,13) It is easy to be distracted by the philosophy of this world and to miss what God is saying, so we need to be on guard against this.
This world says, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die." It is a philosophy of pleasure and fatalism that paralyzes people into inaction. Why not enjoy all of the pleasures of life, because we "only go around once in life?" Make sure and have a "bucket list," so that you don't miss out on all those pleasures of life before you die. Death is the end, so let's do whatever we can to avoid even thinking about it. This type of thinking will keep us from hearing from the Lord.
God is saying, "Turn to me." In order to hear God, we have to be serious and quiet before Him, ready to admit sin and repent of it. We need to set aside time to forsake pleasure and listen fully to Him. Then, He can give us the victory to go on with Him and enjoy a wonderful life doing His will. That is the "good life." In fact, that is the best life, and it goes on forever, even after we die.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 24-26.
