The Prince Of God

Almost 4,000 years ago a man named Jacob had 12 sons. He wrestled with God, and his name was changed to Israel. No longer was he Jacob, the deceiver. He became Israel, the prince of God. His 12 sons became the 12 tribes of Israel.(I Chronicles 2:1,2) Now, we still have a country named Israel, and his descendants are moving there by the thousands. That is pretty amazing, if you ask me.

How did that happen? Was it just by chance? I don't think so. God made a covenant with Abraham, which was passed down to Isaac and Jacob. He promised them the land of Canaan, and He promised to bless them, if they were obedient to Him. They were not faithful like they should have been, but the promise to own the land was an eternal one. Therefore, after many years of being dispersed all over the world, God brought them back.

All of this also works together with the second coming of Christ. He will reign from Jerusalem, so God had to restore the Jews to the Promised Land. He has done that, and we are waiting for Christ to come. He could come for the believers at any time. That event would begin the events of the end of time as we know it. However, it all started back there with a man named Jacob who had 12 sons.

Tomorrow, I intend to read I Chronicles 4-7.
