We Are All Expendable

Sometimes we begin to think that we are special to God, because of our pride. We fool ourselves into believing that we are gifted by God in such a way that we are invaluable to His kingdom. We falsely believe that without us His God's will can't be done. Nothing could be farther from the truth. We are all expendable when it comes to God getting His will accomplished in His way.

Moses was one of the greatest leaders of all time, as I have already said in earlier posts this year. It is incredible to think how God prepared him for the task of leading the Israelites out of bondage by having him raised in Pharaoh's house. His humility did not keep him from being a very dynamic leader for over 2 million people, as they lived in the wilderness for 40 years. God spoke to Moses face to face. Moses was very in tune with God, and he was very obedient until the day he struck the rock, instead of speaking to it, as God commanded. Then, God's plan changed. His leadership was phased out, and Joshua was chosen by God to lead His people into the Promised Land. In the end God accomplished everything through Joshua that He had commanded Moses to do. God's will was fully done, even though Moses had to be replaced because of his sin.(Joshua 11:15)

The same is true for us today. There is no preacher, evangelist, or other believer who is so important to God that he or she can't be replaced, if sin comes into the picture to disqualify that person from continuing in leadership. God can and does always raise up a new leader who does all of His will in those cases. God's will does not suffer when we fail. We suffer. We miss the blessing. I pray that all of us will guard against pride and protect our lives from sin, so we can be faithfully used by God to do His will all the way to the end of our lives on this earth.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Joshua 13-16.
