Hypocrisy

Our world seems to be filled with hypocrisy. A Hypocrite is a person who says one thing, but then does the opposite. It is a person who puts on an outward appearance that doesn't match what is in his heart. A hypocrite is a person who is not being honest with other people, or even being honest with himself. It is a terrible way to live, because many people are turned off by hypocrisy.

The root cause of hypocrisy is wanting to please people. The hypocrite says and does whatever he thinks the people around him want. He wants people to think highly of him, so he tells them what they want to hear. The problem is that when they hear of his hypocrisy, they think very little of him in the end. It is a road to disaster.

We should all promise ourselves to be honest with ourselves, other people, and with God. We should look into our heart and see what is there. If it is sinful, we should repent and confess it, so we can be free of it. Then, we start living a life of honesty, making sure our words and actions match our heart. We begin to stop letting other people dictate our words and actions. We speak and act upon the truth, no matter the consequences. We conform to Christ's image. He is Truth, and He always acts in line with truth.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ephesians 1-3.
