Opportunities For Service

I was just thinking back over my day. It was a day filled with meetings of one sort or another. Each one afforded a very important opportunity to serve the Lord. However, in each case the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.

I had chapel services for our middle school and elementary school students as I usually do on Thursdays. There are so many young minds waiting to be nurtured and challenged. Just think of the possibilities to be a mentor or a tutor to help these precious children grow in the Lord and learn.

We had a meeting for our local Baptist association of churches, the Henry Baptist Association. We have 43 churches and mission churches at this time. We can accomplish more by cooperating together than by functioning separately. There are so many churches that have so many needs and so many ministry opportunities. We need so many new churches to reach different types of people in various areas. What a mission field, and it is right here in our back yard.

Then, I went to the Pregnancy Resource Center Board meeting. We spoke about how to reach more young ladies before they choose abortion. We were encouraged to find abstinence teachers for the public high schools. The PRC needs more volunteers to talk with young ladies who come in for a pregnancy test.

Of course, I could go on and on. The world is so needy, and there are so many things we can do to serve the Lord. These are only the tip of the iceberg. I pray that all of us, as believers, will find our places of service in our church families and in our communities. There are so many lives that need to be touched with the love of Christ and the Gospel.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Esther 8-10 and Job 1.
