Seeking the Kingdom

Our men continued our study of Luke 12 this morning. It is a very sobering passage in which Jesus calls for us to be "rich toward God," instead of investing our time and money in the things of this world. After all, the things are this world are temporary, but the things of God are eternal. Then, He exhorts us to seek the Kingdom of God. We had a good discussion of what that means.

The Kingdom of God is the rule of Jesus in this world. We become citizens of the Kingdom when we come to know Christ. After that He is the King of our lives. We should make all of our decisions based on His heart and His will, not our own. When we do that He will use us and bless us. If we don't, He can't bless us because we are not doing what is pleasing to Him. We looked at what Paul was inspired to write in Philippians 4:10-19, too. It is right in line, because Paul assured his Christian friends that when they used their money to support his ministry, God would make up what they were lacking. The King does that when we obey Him. We might think that we can't give our money for a particular need, because it would cause us to run out of money for the things we need. However, if we trust Him and obey what He tells us, He will make sure we have what we need. God is so good. We see His blessings when we seek His Kingdom.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Luke 9-11.
