Impacting Our Community
This evening we had our second annual Trunk or Treat. It was perfect weather, and we had a lot of decorated cars and trucks. The best thing was we had a very good crowd of children and adults. I know they enjoyed getting the candy, but that was not the main thing that happened. We were able to reach out to people and show them who we are and that we care for them.
Research shows that most people decide to go to a church because of a personal invitation from a friend or family member. Tonight, we were able to issue a lot of personal invitations. We were able to meet people for the first time and to renew friendships from times past. It was a great night!
The hot dog folks gave away 240 hot dogs, and people were still asking, "Why are you giving away free hot dogs?" The answer was the same as before, "Just to show you that we love you and so does Jesus."
Please, join me in praying for everyone who received a hot dog, a tract, or one of my cards. Pray for the Holy Spirit to draw them to Jesus and to our church family. Pray for God to use every kind word and invitation to impact our community.
Tomorrow, I intend to read John 2-4.
