Abhor what is Evil; Cling to what is Good!
There are two sides to being right with the Lord. He is looking to see if we hate evil, and if we cling to good. They are two sides of the same coin, but they are both essential.
How is your relationship with God? If it is not as close as you would like it to be, this could be the factor that is missing. Don't try to simply do good things to please God. Eliminate the things He hates, which are the evil things. Then, He will truly smile upon you, and draw close to you.
God is holy. He can have nothing to do with sin. Therefore, if we persist in sin, it repels God. However, when we strive to be holy, as He is holy, He can relate to us in His holiness. That is when we grow closer to Him.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Zephaniah 3 and Haggai 1-2.
