Cooperation

I have been a Christian a long time, and I have never understood the competition that exists between churches and between believers. God is all about cooperation and interdependence, not competition. Since all believers have the same Father, the same Lord, Jesus Christ, and the same Holy Spirit, why can't we be on the same team?

Yes, there will be some differences in doctrine, in style of leadership and worship, and in church organization. Those differences enhance our abilities to reach various kinds of people. They should not be a source of pride or a reason to put others down. We should rejoice when anyone comes to Christ, and they join with a Bible believing church to serve the Lord with other Christians.

I think if the world saw us, as Christians, loving each other and working together, they would be more drawn to believe in Jesus. Here we are saying that we believe in the Lord, who loves everyone in the world, and we can't love each other. How much sense does that make? It doesn't make sense to me, and it doesn't make sense to the non-Christians who are around us. Let's learn to cooperate, instead of competing with each other.

Tomorrow, I intend to read I Chronicles 16-18.
