A Challenge for the Church

Every church has a great challenge in obeying the Great Commission. NHBC is no different from any other church. We must be aware of the multitudes who are dying each day without hope because they do not know Christ. I try to challenge our church to reach our community and our world for Christ. That is one reason we are in the Domincan Republic this week. We are part of Christ´s body reaching out to the world.

Today, we went to the Baptist school in Bonao. We met the man who was pastor of First Baptist Church in Bonao for 34 years, Pablo Sanchez. We had a service for the students of the school including the students of the school for the deaf, which is in the same building. As a result of that service 5 of the deaf students prayed to receive Christ. That made a total of about 140 decisions during the week. Tonight, we had our final service at the church, and Phil challenged the pastor and the people to follow up on those decisions and to continue to do their part to carry out the Great Commission. He reminded all of us that there are almost a million people a week all around the world who die and go to Hell. We must do what we can to obey the Lord and show the love of Christ to them.

Tomorrow, we will spend some time with our Christian friends in Santo Domingo, and we will challenge them to do the same. Doug gave us a quote today which in essence said that the lostness of the world should impact all we do. I pray that we will all take that to heart.
