Questioning God or Trusting God - Malachi and Revelation 22

On this New Year's Eve 2007 each of us has to decide if we will live by questioning God or trusting God. There is a big difference. We can't have it both ways. We either live by faith, or continually question God's wisdom and righteousness. I pray that each of us will decide once and for all to trust God completely every day.

Malachi is a very insightful book, because he uses the questions of the people to reveal God to them. In effect, God's people were going through the motions of worshiping God and trusting Him, while all the time they were questioning Him. They did not really trust Him. They did things their own way, because they had come to the conclusion that God was wrong and His ways were wrong. They would not come out and challenge Him directly in public, but behind the scenes the people would question God. It is much the same as today. Believers say that we believe in marriage, but just as many or more believers get divorces as unbelievers. We say we believe in tithing, but when it comes down to it, we rob God, because we think we know better. We offer a pitiful blind sacrifice of worship to God, and He does not receive our defiled worship. Malachi challenges us to trust God, and he promises that if we will trust Him, God will prove Himself faithful to us every time.

John finishes his description of heaven for us at the beginning of Revelation 22, and then, he issues the final invitation of the Bible. It is so fitting that the last chapter has the last call of the Lord to all people to trust Him. The Holy Spirit is calling out. God's church, the Bride of Christ, is calling out. The Word of God and the Good News of the Gospel is being shared. Will you question God or trust Him? Will you believe that Christ died to give you life, or will believe that He was just a good teacher? Will you trust God or go your own direction, because all of your questions have not been answered? The only way all of your questions could be answered, would be for you to be God. He is the only one who knows everything. We know plenty to put our trust in the One who knows it all. I urge you to stop questioning God and really trust Him.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Genesis 1-3 and Matthew 1. However, my blog will change in two ways. I will not comment on the Scripture readings, but on my personal walk with the Lord. I will not always write the blog in the mornings. There are three years of insights in the archives, so you can look back at those as you read through the Bible this year, if that would help you. I hope my blog will lead us all to obedience in 2008, not just more knowledge. We know enough to do His will now. The crucial factor must be our own obedience. That is what I want to focus on in 2008. I hope the blog will continue to be a blessing to you.
