June 26 - Psalms 142-144

Have you ever felt that no one cared for you? I can't really say that I have come to that point in my life, but David had come to that point in Psalm 142. In the midst of his abandonment he cries out to the One he knows will be there for him, because he knows God will deal bountifully with him. I hope you do not feel abandoned like David did, but if you do, I urge you to realize that Jesus is there for you, and He knows what you are going through.

In Psalm 143 David says that he took some time to remember the things God had done for him in the past. He spread out his hands to God, because his soul was dry. Then, he shows us the key thing he had learned to do. He tells us that he would ask God to show him His loving-kindness in the "morning" and ask Him to show him how to live that day. David discovered the importance of that "unhurried time" with the Lord in the morning.

Then, in Psalm 144 we see the results of David's time with God. He found God to be his fortress, deliverer, and refuge. He found out that "happy are the people whose God is the Lord." Does this mean that believers never have trouble? No! These three psalms are full of references to David's problems. The reason he can be happy is that he knows God will be there for him no matter what comes. I hope you have that assurance and that happiness today.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 145-147.
