Trusting Others, but Not God

 We all have problems every day that we have to solve. When that happens, we have so many places where we can turn for solutions. I know a lot of people that the first thing they do is to pull out their phone and ask Google for the solution. Others search You tube for a video on the subject. At other times we ask a family member or a friend, but do we think to ask God? That is really the right thing to do first every time. I will explain what I mean.

The people of Judah needed help from their enemies. They turned to Egypt before asking God for help. Then, God destroyed Egypt to teach Israel a lesson. (Ezekiel 29:16) "Then, Israel will no longer be tempted to trust in Egypt for help. Egypt's shattered condition will remind Israel of how sinful she was to trust in Egypt in earlier days. Then, Israel will know that I am the Sovereign Lord." Let's not make this same mistake and dishonor God in this way.

I am sure that sometimes we think that it is impractical to ask God first. We don't think we need His help, or we think that it will be just as good to ask someone else. However, that is not ever true. Remember, God knows everything, and He cares for us more than any one else. He has the ability to create a solution to our problem that no human would ever consider.. We need to give Him that opportunity first. That will be the best solution to our need.

We can go to God in prayer, and He can and will speak to out heart if that is what we need. Also, we have the Bible to instruct us in many areas. We have all kinds of ways to search for information in God's Word that will help us. We need to use them, if we don't already know what God's Word says about what we need to do. After we have gone to the Lord and told Him that we need His help, then we can go to other people or sources, because God might choose to use them to help us. But we need to always depend on the Sovereign Lord first and foremost. God will honor that.
