Humbled By God
God had a purpose in how He treated the children of Israel in the wilderness. He allowed them to hunger and to thirst to humble them. Also, He gave them manna, so that they would have to be dependent on Him. They were taught not to be dependent just for food and water, but for everything.(Deuteronomy 8:3)
The Lord does the same thing to us today. He gives us trouble, so we are humbled, and we realize how much we need Him. Then, He shows us that we can trust Him for everything. If we will listen, we can do whatever He leads us to do, because we are listening to Him and doing His will.
The key thing the Lord taught Israel and that He wants us to learn is that we must live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. That is the ultimate in depending on God. We read His Word, and we listen to the Holy Spirit, so that whatever He says, we do it. Then, we can be used by Him in wonderful ways.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Deuteronomy 9-11.
