God's Inspiration of the Scriptures
This morning we had a great time in our Men's Bible study. We had 18 men to study the first four verses of Luke. Tim Justice joined us for the very first time, too. The beginning verses are called the prologue, because they form a kind of introduction to the rest of the book. We all marvelled at the great lengths to which Luke went to show how careful he was in his presentation of the life of Jesus. The miracle of it all was how God used his personality and his training as a physician to produce a very detailed account of Jesus' life and ministry. He even tells us that his purpose was that Theophilus would know for certain all of the things in which he had been instructed. The word certain means "not to slip." He could be sure of all of those things which Luke wrote because God had guided him in the research and in the writing, so that he made no mistakes. What a blessing! The inspiration of the Bible is a marvel to us, but it is so wonderful to think of how God delivered His Word to us, so we could pass it on to others.
I hope you will study through Luke with us, even if you can't join us at 5 AM on Mondays. It is going to be an exciting journey in which we will learn all about God coming to Earth to save us.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Genesis 31-32 and Matthew 9:18-38.
