Good Works and Otherwise
It is amazing to me how the Bible is so precise. It is definitely "truth without any mixture of error." The little everyday truths excite me as much as the huge foundational truths sometimes. I Timothy 5:25 is one of those little everyday truths that struck me this morning. Think about how the good works of some people are clearly evident. They don't have to promote themselves, but they just do what is right. It becomes obvious to the people around them. However, when someone does the opposite of good works, even if they are trying hard to seem to do good works, they can't hide the bad works they do. In the same way it becomes evident to those around them that their lives are filled with the opposite of good works. God makes sure that we can't keep those things secret. Just think about that truth a while, and think how it impacts our everyday lives. We have to make judgments all the time about the character of a person. It is not being critical. It is just necessary to discern how they will act in a particular situation. If we look at the tenor of their lives, we can see clearly what makes up their lives, whether it is good works or otherwise.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 9-11 and I Timothy 6.
