The Children of God - Ezekiel 47-48 and I John 3
Ezekiel ended his book with a description of the Holy Land during the Millennium. It is interesting to read about the land being divided among the 12 tribes again, and to read about the river that will proceed from the Temple in Jerusalem. It all reminds me of the description of Heaven in Revelation 21 and 22. It tells me how God always takes care of His people or His children. He is a Loving Father. He has thought of every need, and He is there for us, as He was for Israel in the Old Testament times. As we trust Him He provides for us all we need. He also punishes us as we need correction.
John 3 is all about being God's children. God loves us so much that He adopts us as His children. He wants us to like His Only Begotten Son, Jesus. Therefore, the children of God are to act like Jesus. The children of God do not persist in habitual sin. They are the ones who obey His commands. It is the children of the devil who live in constant sin. In fact, one way we can know we are His children is that we love His other children, our brothers and sisters in Christ. Jesus laid down His life for us to be a a part of His family, and we should be ready to lay down our life for our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are a family in the Lord.
How are you doing? Are you living as a child of God or as a child of Satan? How is your love for the other children of God and those who don't know Christ? Do you know that the child of God can't be content with a life of sin? It is amazing and challenging to consider that we are children of God and all that means for our lives.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Daniel 1-2 and I John 4.
