Warning People
If we see someone who is about to step out in front of a moving vehicle, we warn them to stop. If our neighbor's house is on fire, and we see it before they do, we go to warn them, so they can get out. We do the same thing in cases which are not as fatal because we don't want people to get hurt. We should all warn people when we see them doing something that will harm them spiritually, as well. That is even more important than protecting people physically.
God gave this charge to Ezekiel. (Ezekiel 3:17) "Son of man, I have appointed you as a watchman for Israel. Whenever you receive a message from Me, warn people immediately." We can feel the urgency in this command, and we need to have that same urgency in our lives, as Christians, today. We have the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to direct us with God's message. We must never shy away from being used by God in this way. We can see people saved from hell and from ruining their lives, if we will warn them.
We are surrounded by people who don't know the Lord Jesus, and they are living in rebellion to God and His Word. We might think that it is none of our business to give them God's message, but we are wrong if that is how we feel. We should warn them in love, not looking down on them, because if we don't do it, they may never have the chance to repent of their sins and trust Jesus. We must listen to the Holy Spirit each day and everywhere we go, so that when He prompts us, we can share the truth of God and the Good News of Jesus Christ whenever He tells us to do that.
We are also surrounded by other believers all of the time. We know some of them better than others, but as we interact with them, we may find out that they are engaging in a particular sin or questionable activity. We are the ones who are to speak up and warn them. If we don't do our part, their lives may be headed in the wrong direction, so they will not be pleasing to God and experience His joy and peace, as they should. I know it can be scary to warn people, but it is worth it to see them come to know Jesus and to live in God's will.
