Secure!

I believe a lot of us suffer from insecurity of one form or another. We feel insecure about our abilities, so we tend to shy away from trying difficult things. We are afraid we will fail. We have financial insecurity. We worry about running out of money. However, the worst type of insecurity is when we are not secure in our relationship with God and our salvation. If we are not secure about our life in eternity that causes us all kinds of problems.

The psalmist gave us the assurance that all believers need to have about salvation and eternity. (Psalm 125:1) He told us that those who trust in the Lord are as secure as Mount Zion. They will not be defeated, but they will endure forever. See what I mean! Let's take a few minutes to unpack this verse, and it should  show you how to have that needed security.

I have been to Mount Zion. It is a huge mountain. Jerusalem was built on Mount Zion, since it was a very secure place. The enemies would have trouble climbing the mountain. Then, with the walls around the city, too, they would have a very difficult time taking the city. So the psalmist is saying that the mountain is not going anywhere, unless God moves it, and the enemies can't ever overcome it. To the psalmist Mount Zion was a model of security.

Now, we who trust the Lord are just as secure. Satan has no ability to defeat us, as long as we are trusting the Lord, not ourselves. He can't do anything to cause us to lose our salvation, so we will endure forever with the Lord. This is related to the verses that assure us that God is our Rock. When we trust the Lord and have a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ, we are secure forever. We can live each day in victory, not fearing any defeat from Satan, demons, or people.. When God is on our side, we have the ultimate security.
