God's Trustworthy Commandments
Life is all about figuring out who and what we can trust. From the time we are able to interact with people and do what we decide to do in our lives, we have to make choices. Those choices will either help us or hurt us, but we have to make them constantly. Most of our decisions will be made on the basis of what we believe is trustworthy. Of course, the Main One who is trustworthy is God, and the main thing that is trustworthy is His Word, the Bible. We all need to settle those two facts.
The Bible is very clear about the character of God and His Word from Genesis to Revelation. The psalmist gives us a very succinct statement on this very topic. (Psalm 111:7,8) "All He does is just and good, and all His commandments are trustworthy. They are forever true, to be obeyed faithfully and with integrity." I believe if we will decide to accept the truths of this verse and make our decisions based on them, we will have the abundant life God desires for us.
All God does is always just and good. This is true even when bad things happen to us. God always stays with us and He allows them to happen to us for a just and good reason. We should never doubt this truth about our God. It is when we doubt that God is just and good that we start failing to have faith in Him, and we always need to do everything we do in faith, not in doubt or unbelief. Just remember that God has promised to work all things together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
Because all God does is just and good, His commandments are trustworthy. We may not understand them completely, but we need to trust them completely. We must know they are forever true. They don't change from one generation to the next. Therefore, we must obey them faithfully, every day. We must obey them with integrity by not being one person at church and another person at school or work. We must decide to consistently obey the trustworthy Word of God. If we do, we will see God's blessings.
