Leaders who don't Ask the Lord for Guidance

Being a leader is a special responsibility. A leader has to lead himself well first. Then, the leader is able to lead the ones under his authority well. I believe God holds every leader accountable for how he leads, even if the leader is not a believer. If God didn't hold leaders accountable, our culture would be in danger of falling apart. This goes for leaders of families, businesses, churches, states, and countries. Our culture depends on leaders doing the right things.

Saul failed miserably at being a leader. He was appointed by God as king of Israel, when the people demanded a king. (I Chronicles 10:13.14) Then, Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord's command, and he even consulted a medium instead of asking the Lord for guidance. So the Lord killed him, and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse. Saul failed and the people suffered because of his sins. I believe this is happening more and more today.

We need leaders who are of high moral character. The problem is that it is hard to find people of high moral character today, so people settle for leaders who can speak well and present themselves well. Then, when the leader makes decisions, he chooses to do the wrong things. They just do what they think is right, or they consult the wrong advisors instead of seeking the Lord and following His Word which is truth. I am not talking politics. I am talking character and the humility to seek the Lord.

Just think of how many families have been destroyed by husbands and fathers who did not ask the Lord for guidance. They sought advice on the Internet or from friends who did not know the way of the Lord. Look around and see the churches that are failing because the leadership is not asking the Lord for guidance, but they are just copying what other churches are doing. Look at how our country is suffering with all of the scandals that are coming out every day. Please, join me in praying for leaders who will ask the Lord for guidance for themselves and for the people they lead.
